Technology Risk Management (TRM):

TRM is a second line of defense (2LOD) function, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of BNY, that provides oversight and challenge to the company’s Technology organization and related Line of businesses. The goal of TRM is to make sure that technology, cyber / information security, resiliency, data and technology third party risks are clearly understood by the first line of defense (1LOD), transparently reported through governance and managed within the defined risk appetite and risk management framework.                            

Reporting Line:

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President in Technology Risk Management I (TRM) to join our TRM Central Team. TRM is a part of 2nd Line Risk & Compliance, focused on oversight and challenge of Technology functions at BNY. TRM Central’s role is to ensure and assist the wider TRM function in meeting the Regulatory and policy obligations. This role is located in Wroclaw (Poland), is Hybrid, and reports directly to the TRM Central Director. 

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for providing oversight and challenge across the 1st line of defense and assessing Technology Risk elements in alignment with Technology Risk Management Framework and applicable policies, standards and procedures.
  • Establishes and continuously improves risk assessment processes and associated controls.
  • Perform review and oversight of technology high-level assessments (HLA), risk-and-control-self-assessment (RCSA), Evidence Based Controls Assessment (EBCA) and Risk appetite of the enterprise (Technology and Information Risk) for evaluating and representing adequate Technology Risk posture
  • Perform review of Technology, Information and Cyber related Policies, Procedures and Standards to uncover any potential or existing gaps or non-compliance with regulations or risk framework.
  • Perform periodic review and oversight of Technology Risk Management (TRM) related gaps, issues, risk acceptances, policy waivers, etc. 
  • Actively contributes to the continuous improvement of team's processes through ongoing initiatives including solutions to automate, build efficiencies, and maintain consistency across deliveries
  • When needed, extend support to team members on different types of risk assessments and metrics oversight 
  • Prepare or participate in the preparation of executive level reports for regulators and senior stakeholders
  • Applies influence to ensure the availability of technology risk input requirements, to build consensus on risk mitigation and remediation strategies among global and/or regional stakeholder groups.
  • No direct reports 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of work experience required, financial services industry experience is a plus.
  • Prior work experience supporting a large, regulated institution, preferably financial services would be a plus. Experience in Risk Management is preferred. 
  • The candidate must have strong communication skills and demonstrate a record of accomplishment and excellence in delivery.
  • Knowledge of SQL and Tableau / Power BI, JIRA, Python, R, Service Now, SharePoint, Confluence and/or Advanced PowerPoint skills is a plus.
  • Bachelor ‘s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Effective senior stakeholder management skills evidenced by relevant experience, along with excellent presentation skills.
