We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Associate, Global Institutional Accounting I to join our existing Global Institutional Accounting team. This role is located in Wroclaw, Poland - hybrid.  Working hours: 3pm-11pm with + 15% allowance.

As a Global Institutional Accounting Analyst, your main responsibility will be to conduct daily, weekly, and monthly reviews of various investment portfolios. The role requires attention to details while validating positions, prices, incomes, and transactions between the records of BNY and custody or investment managers of the bank's clients. You will be an integral part of a team, ensuring all services and projects are delivered within the specified timeframes.

To excel in this role, you should be a well-organized individual with a desire to develop your skills in the accounting and finance area. Any prior experience in related fields will be considered advantageous. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders are essential.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Analyzing data reconciliations, resolving accounting exceptions, identifying trends, providing root cause analysis, and monitoring the funds data on an ongoing basis.
  • Assisting in generating daily, weekly, and monthly reports, utilizing your understanding of the stock record and foundational accounting principles.
  • Conducting in-depth data analysis of reconciliations and leading engagements across business areas. You will identify trends, provide complex root cause analysis, and execute recommendations to improve financial reporting processes.
  • Examining and interpreting discrepancies in data between internal and external systems, including accounting and custody positional and transactional records, and conducting root-cause analysis to determine the reasons for such differences.
  • Conducting analysis of cash and asset reconciliations for clients' collective investment portfolios, ensuring timely and accurate delivery in accordance with established timetables and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Serving as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, answering questions and resolving issues related to fund reports and accounting processes.
  • Participating in technical testing and implementation of accounting software, ensuring that our systems are up-to-date and able to meet the evolving needs of our clients.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (min. B2 level).
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience (fund accounting, reconciliation, reporting, cash processing, etc.)
  • Good understanding of the different securities available in the market – bonds, equities, derivatives – as well as various market events (e.g. corporate actions).
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office products, in particular manipulating Excel spreadsheets. Utilizing advanced functions would be desirable.
  • Analytical skills with a proven track record of working with comprehensive financial/numerical data. Experience working with large and complex databases and an ability to understand how they function/interact will be preferred.
  • Accounting/ Economics/ Finance / Math’s university degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
