About the role:

We are looking for an experienced engineer in the field of data management, infrastructure, querying, and access to lead our technical efforts in developing the data portal. The successful candidate would bring the vision of the data portal end product, technical expertise to design its software (at least the backend but ideally the full stack), and the ability to motivate, direct and contribute to the team through the implementation.

Your future tasks:

  • Understanding the needs of the various data users and other stakeholders
  • Evaluating existing products, tools, and frameworks
  • Designing the data portal software solution, at least the backend but ideally the user interface as well, using existing or to-be-developed components
    • The design is to include recommendations on data storage and access (including data from different sources), and facilities for searching large volumes of time series and image data (ideally including visual searching), both programmatically and through a visual interface
  • Motivating and directing the team in implementing, validating, and maintaining the software and interfaces
  • Leading the frontend software development and implementation

Our Requirements:

  • 2+ of experience in a similar or related role
  • Strength in designing and managing large databases, preferably of time-series and image data
  • Strength in querying languages, such as SQL and its variants
  • Experience with several backend languages and frameworks among for example Python, Java, Node.js, Flask, Django, Express.js
  • Experience with Apache Spark or similar
  • Experience developing production software
  • Proficiency in a collaborative version control system such as Git or similar
  • Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals
  • University degree
  • Fluency in English

Nice to have:

  • Experience or working knowledge of the following:
    • Web front end development languages and frameworks, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, React
    • Interface and user experience design principles
    • Time-series databases
    • RESTful APIs
    • Kubernetes
    • LLM, VectorDB, RAG
  • Familiarity with driver assistance or autonomous driving systems, especially signal from their sensors
  • Familiarity with machine learning
